Metal Grooming Comb for Matted Fur and Finishing

A metal grooming comb with two tooth spacings, for working through matted fur and for finishing after a brush. The wider teeth open a tangle; the closer teeth find what the brush left behind and show whether the coat is genuinely clear.

Work on a dry coat in short strokes, holding the fur at the root so the pull is on your hand and not on the skin. A comb will not clear a mat that has felted down to the skin — that is a clipping job for a groomer or a vet, and forcing a comb through it hurts the animal and tightens the mat.
